Healthfest by the Telecel Ghana Foundation: An Indicator of Community Well-Being

The Telecel Ghana Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Telecel Ghana, recently made a significant impact through its Healthfest initiative. This outreach provided free medical screening and medical consultation to approximately 2000 beneficiaries across Takoradi, Kumasi, and Koforidua, underscoring the Foundation's commitment to community health and well-being.

The rebranding of Telecel Ghana has brought a renewed focus on Corporate Social Responsibility, with the Telecel Ghana Foundation leading efforts to enhance healthcare access. Their initiatives span across three regions—Western, Ashanti, and Eastern—demonstrating a robust commitment to improving health outcomes in these areas.

In Takoradi, the first stop of the tour, the Healthfest team provided comprehensive health services at the Takoradi Market Circle. Over 400 residents benefited from screenings and consultations, addressing conditions like malaria, Hepatitis B, and hypertension, all at no cost.

Kumasi was the next destination, where the Healthfest coincided with the launch of the Telecel Ghana brand at Adum. Here, over 1000 individuals received health screenings, tackling issues such as hypertension, blood sugar levels, and Hepatitis B.

The final leg of the tour in Koforidua saw more than 500 people benefit from free medical services and medications. Augusta Andrews, Acting Director for Legal and External Affairs, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative’s impact, noting the community's strong response as a testament to the Healthfest initiative's value.

Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Manager for Foundation, Sustainability, and External Communications, emphasized the importance of bringing healthcare directly to communities. She highlighted that such initiatives empower communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to take charge of their health.

The Telecel Ghana Foundation continues to establish its new identity in Ghana, with the Healthfest success paving the way for future community-centered endeavors. Their ongoing commitment to leveraging resources to improve health and education outcomes for Ghana's underserved populations reinforces their role as a responsible corporate citizen.
